Once again, feeling listy. Apparently I am only able to speak in sentence fragments and use words that do not truly exist. Who cares anyway? I think you all know what I mean when I say listy.

First and foremost. Jacker-doodle-do. This kid is a crazy man. No really, he is doing great. Still army crawling… but at the speed of light. Able to mow over a pool of his own spit up in a single bound. He has had quite a bit of reflux lately and I’ve been thinking he may need to go back on Zantac. This weekend he started another one of his hunger strikes. Which is extremely frustrating and freaks me out to no end. I know he’s teething and I just have to keep in mind that he does this every time and goes back to normal once the tooth comes in. In the meantime, I’m sure I’ll still be a nervous wreck.

Jack has had a few firsts recently that I am a little ashamed to admit to… cupcakes, girl scout cookies, and doughnuts. hehehe. Ok, so it’s not like I gave him a whole cupcake, only a few small bites (at Jayden’s birthday party), he had one Trefoil shortbread cookie (and it would have been a thin mint if he were a few months older), and not even a quarter of an old fashioned cake doughnut from Dunkin Donuts.

The little guy has been very verbal lately. He is still only mimicking words and not actually using them as though he understands though. He does know several words – for instance, when you ask him where Sophie is he looks around until he finds her and then smiles or screeches or whatever. When I change him I usually give him something to play with and lately he is very interested in the pictures on his diapers. The other day I pointed out that Burt was on his diaper – and he looks at me and thought to himself for a second, then said, BURT. Like he had been practicing it for weeks! Craziness. The next day he couldn’t identify Burt, but said Elmo after I pointed it out. Absolutely nuts! Of course he won’t do it in front of anyone, so no one believes me that he actually speaks at all.

He’s started doing the funniest thing lately. He thinks it’s funny when I give him several kisses in a row on his cheek or his forehead. So if he wants me to do it he will lean in for a kiss then rock back, then lean in again, and rock back. Hilarious. Seriously. The first time he did it I wasn’t sure what he was up to. I almost thought he was trying to headbutt my mouth. But then I figured it out and when I kissed him he started to giggle. TOO CUTE!

Let’s see… EZ and I decided to rent a couple of movies and have a few date nights at home. What a great idea. EZ saw a recipe on the Take Home Chef that he thought he’d try to re-create. While we were shopping for his dinner, I saw a few things and got a little inspired. So I made dinner (Lobster cakes, roasted gemstone potatoes, white asparagus and a spinach salad) followed by EZ’s crepes with nutella and strawberries on Saturday night and EZ made dinner on Sunday night. Soo good. And so much fun.

We actually got to see The Departed just in time for the Academy Awards… which I thought was great, but I was a little surprised that it did so well. I guess I was hoping that Little Miss Sunshine would win for best picture.

Ok, so let’s talk dresses. So many good ones… Emily Blunt, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, and of course Reese… she was smokin’!! BY FAR, best dressed of the night. I loved what she wore to the Golden Globes, but this was even better. I really didn’t like what Kirsten Dunst (just bad, plain bad) and Jennifer Hudson (pockets in an evening gown, bad… and that jacket, not a fan) wore. Also, was it me or was Naomi Watts’ dress a little too reminiscent of what Cate Blanchett wore to the 2005 Academy Awards? That and was it me or did she look prego? Hmm.

So I’ve got to wrap this up… getting way too long. Who else is sick of hearing about the whole Anna Nicole thing? Oh, and of course Britney’s breakdown. Geez. What is going on with that girl?

Last but not least… I need a few pointers. We’re having trouble with the sippy cup. Any ideas? He is just not very interested in it. And well, I’m trying to transition over, considering the fact that we’re rapidly approaching his first birthday. Speaking of birthdays… I could get started on that topic, but I won’t… I’ll save it for later this week.

Avent makes a great sippy that has like a flat nipple type thing. It is rubber and is suppose to help babies go from a bottle to sippy cup. Good luck! Gavin still likes just drinking from a cup.

I totally said to Matt last night, “Is Naomi Watts pregnant randomly?” I was confused by her dress as well, and Jennifer Hudson’s. Not their best choice. I fell asleep for the last 30 minutes and missed when Reese looked like but am anxiously awaiting my US Weekly next week to analyze. :) Yeah, sippy cups are weird. I say just hold it with him like a bottle and see if he eventually goes for it. If he doesn’t, then try a week later or just let him play with one during meals so he starts to get used to it. That’s what I did and Lucy eventually got into it.
I may have had a hard time with getting Morgan to drink milk, but getting her to drink from a sippy cup was a breeze. I have it to her one day when she was maybe 5 months old and she’s been drinking from one ever since (she DOES still drink 2 bottles/day). As Sarah said, let him play with it. Try giving it to him with juice or water with an am/pm snack.
Morgan had reflux and was on Tagament for 8 or 9 months. The spit up was horrible, the gagging…blech. But, she outgrew it and has had no issues for 4 months. Poor little boy…
Yes, I’m tired of Anna Nicole and Britany. I feel terrible for Anna Nicole’s baby and it’s horrible that they’re dragging this out so much. As for Britany…I don’t even know. I bet no one would give a rat’s hind end if WE shaved our heads and flashed our girly bits to the cameras. Why is she so special?!
I read that Naomi Watts is pregnant on the “E” website today. just thought I’d throw my 2 cents in. this is probably old news to you though!
I kind of liked Gwyneth (i have no idea how to spell her name) Paltrow’s dress (although am not sure why, maybe it’s just how good she looks in it and not the dress after all).
Can’t wait to see that baby / only 10 days away!
I read that Naomi Watts is prego today too!! In my US.
I LOVE it when you feel listy! Thanks for the update. Glad that you and the husband had some nice date nights. Those are really important. I miss you guys…hope to see you again really soon.
I hated Gweneth Paltro’s hair. Nicole Kidman is just stunning. I’m bummed to have missed Reece. I LOVED Ellen. She was hysterical. The first time – ever -that I have laughed out loud at the Oscars.
I love lists..
I agree with all your fashion pics, and was also wondering if Naomi was sporting a bit of a baby bump.
Lulu never did catch on to the sippy cup thing, she used to refuse it out right.
so now she just has a bottle at night and drinks from a regular cup or juice box.
the kid loves straws.
good luck with the transition.
Guess what? I saw that cupcake holder at Party City on Sunday for only $9.99! Didn’t buy it…decided to do a cake instead. But FYI – it’s there (if they have those near you).
I have to ask, did you notice Portia de Rossi? I thought she looked stunning and she’s never really done anything for me… Well, maybe that sounds a little wierd, considering… Anyway, I thought she looked fabulous! And I totally agree about Jennifer Hudson and the pockets! Without the stupid jacket thing, that dress actually looked okay, sans pockets of course!
