Ok, so the lists are totally getting out of control, wouldn’t you say? I mean, I can only go so long farting out bullet-ed sentence fragments on this stupid blog before I lose the five readers I do have… kidding! Ok, so I realize that there are probably a few more than that… maybe seven. No actually, in all seriousness, I was really incredibly surprised by the number of the people that came out of the woodwork, in comments and emails, on the last post. I can’t even tell you how much I appreciated it. As silly as it sounds, just knowing that there’s someone else out there that’s gone through or is going through some of what I am, makes me feel a little more normal. You know? And it sort of helps me to just take a breath. If that makes any sense. Anyway, enough of that serious business. It’s time for a list!
- First and foremost, my people, I know I’ve gone over this about 58 times… back and forth, is he going to crawl on all fours, is he going to skip it… seriously, like you are sitting on the edge of your chair. Waiting to find out whether or not my kid is crawling on all fours or not. Well, HE IS!!! Woo Hoo! Go Jacker-doodle-doo! Man, this kid is hi-larious! He’s like bambi, all wobbly and stuff.
- I put a new section in the sidebar… for those of you who haven’t noticed just yet, called “What I’m Eating”. I got the idea from Sarah. She’s been doing this a while. For whatever reason I find it entertaining to hear what other people eat. And really, it wasn’t until I read what Whoorl thought about my blessed Cheerio’s that I had to have a try. You know, with all of this product flashing you’d think that I would be smart enough to try to get paid in the process. Hmm.
- So, with the addition of “What I’m Eating” you may have noticed that I removed “Stuff I Have No Business Wanting”. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about stuff and have decided to start making some changes in my life. E and I have started taking this class and it has only made me think about the situation that much more. It all pretty much boils down to this… I don’t like that there is always something that I WANT or must have. In actuality, I have quite a bit. Yeah, sure it’s ok to need some things. But really, it just doesn’t seem right to be lusting over so much stuff. Maybe it’s just my Catholic roots… feeling the guilt during the first Lenton season I haven’t officially recognized. I don’t know. And no, I’m not reading The Secret. Although, my mother-in-law is and highly recommends it. I guess what it is is that I feel like I’d like to get away from the whole “keeping up with the Jones’” mentality… although, at this point I don’t feel like I’m trying to keep up with anyone. I just want to stop wanting things that really aren’t necessary and to start focusing on all the great things I do have. Make sense?
- So another one of the changes I have decided to make is to read more. I read quite a bit as it is… so this should be a bit challenging. I just read up on some interesting possibilities here. And think I’m going to start with this while I wait for this to come out in paperback. But really, both of them are just for fun… so I suppose I should read something I can learn from. Any suggestions? And they don’t have to be something to learn from…
- Last but not least… Congratulations to my good friend Jessica! Alyxandra Mary was born on March 20… and she is beautiful. Congratulations Jessica and Mike! I’m so glad that baby Alyx is doing well.
Let’s see, not much else to report here. We had an amazing day today. Jack and I had a playdate, at which we went on a really long walk through an awesome part of town that we are planning on moving to eventually. The weather is amazing and we’re looking forward to a beautiful weekend as well. Hope the weather is great for you all too!
I Love your lists.
especially this one.
I’m a list freak myself, so it’s refreshing to know that they are more of us out there.
#1. congrats to Jack!
#2. I love all the stuff on your sidebar- it is a great way to learn more about a person. I might do something similar-especially re: what I am eating these days. great idea. will put it on my “list” of things I want to do to my blog ;)
#3. Great point, though that Volvo was pretty swank. Need vs. want, and wanting all the time really isn’t a great feeling.
oh and I was flipping through “The Secret” at the book store the other day, and it looked somewhat interesting- but you could just as easily skim though it to get the general jist of it.
#4. I am also trying to read more myself- which is getting easier and easier as many of the shows we watch are getting pretty boring- with the exception of 30 rock, the office, prison break and lost (though I am getting a bit impatient, who the hell are the others?), geez I guess I do watch too much tv.
A great book I just finished was Snowflower and the Secret Fan-an interesting perspective on foot binding. ouch.
see my library side bar for other recommendations.
#5. was there a 5? oh yes, congrats to your friends and baby Alyx.
okay I’ve taken up too much comment space,
but keep on making those lists..love ‘em.
Mama Z…..I love your lists. I love being able to use the word “listy” and when I do, I ALWAYS think of you!! I am SUCH a list freak–right this second, I have 4 of them on the table beside me and am working on another list!!
Horray for Jack :) And yes….I WAS waiting for the post to say he’s crawling on all fours!!
Alyx is beautiful!! Congrats to your friends!!
I’ve had to cool it with the wanting in the last year. I use to think that if I had the best of everything….it made life better. It really doesn’t.
Anyway….enjoy your weekend!!
Hola Amanda!
I’m so excited that Jack is crawling. It makes the house/apartment seem so much smaller…doesn’t it? Avery started crawling (forward) this past week, and is attempting to pull herself up on EVERYTHING! AND…we went to the hemotologist on Tuesday and everything came back NORMAL! All the worrying and waiting is over for now!
Love the lists and I love getting updates on you and sweet Jack! I should tell you that whenever I hear the Lionel Richie song…I think about you and EZ :)
Michele
I always enjoy your lists, and I am going to guess your MANY readers do as well. I enjoy knowing what people eat…I think it’s funny and I like to get ideas. I think I stole the idea from SJ – when she was preggo she used to post it on her sidebar. Glad you had a great play group and great day. Glad Jacky is crawling like a wild man. Look out world! Have an awesome weekend – and thanks, again, for listening the other day. Good times and I wish you lived near me. :)
Michele!
Avery is crawling! OH. MY. GOODNESS! Superbaby! I’m so glad to hear that everything came back normal. Such great news! Glad you’re still stopping by for updates too :)
Sarah,
Anytime! Oh, and you know, now I’m going to want updates! haha!
