Can you tell I’m having a hard time coming up with post titles these days? Whatever. Feeling listy. Surprise surprise! Ok, so there’s been so much going on around here. And so many things to update you all on about the Jack-man.
- Someone has learned the art of kissing. Ok, so maybe he hasn’t quite mastered it just yet… but he’s working on it. And the kid is a kissing fool. Open-mouthed. Slobbery. And they must be plastered right on the lips. The other day he was trying to kiss me and I kept moving my head so that he’d kiss my cheek and he was like a pirhana coming at my mouth. And those teeth! If you actually let him plant one of those slobbery things on you, he follows it up with a bite to the lip. GEEZ! Which leads right into my next bullet…
- I’ve got a biter on my hands! I’m sure I’ve told you about how he’s lunged at me alligator style during a temper tantrum… well, the other day I picked him up and thought he was laying his heady on my shoulder (now, who doesn’t love that) and he BIT me! HARD! I still have a bruise! Oh, and he pinches. Like it’s his calling in life. I have a bruise on my inner arm (to match the bit mark on my other shoulder) the size of a quarter and the color of an eggplant. Lovely. I’m sure that’ll look great for our family pics on Saturday… with my nice white cap-sleeve T. Lovely.
- So the biting is pretty much due to some major teething. I feel so bad for the kid. He’s drooling constantly and can’t keep his fingers out of his mouth. And just looking in there, you can see that he’s cutting more teeth, possibly some molars. Poor kid. He went on another one of his hunger strikes… well, he was eating but refused the bottle and sippy cup almost completely. I was totally freaking out and could hardly keep it together. I wish I could just remember that’s how he is when he’s cutting a tooth. So, nothing popping up just yet, but I’m sure it’s not far off.
- He is talking so much… well, babbling and yammering on about who knows what. He lays on the floor and “reads” his books all of the time. So cute! We got him a stuffed duck that quacks for Easter and he says “duck” all of the time… which isn’t too far off from dog. Which he says a lot too. Like every time he sees Sophie. Or whenever she barks. Which is pretty much constantly. If he hears her bark he either says, “dog” or “bah,” which is the command we use for her to stop. haha! Learning early to be a pack leader!
- So, the transition from army crawling to regular crawling seemed to take forever, whereas the transition from crawling to CLIMBING and WALKING all along the furniture only seemed to take days! Oh, man am I in trouble. He is definitely a climber. Already has figured out how to get on top of one of our ginormous 1980s speakers. Ridiculous. I mean, aren’t they supposed to learn to walk BEFORE they climb?! He is a crazy man I tell you! He’s a whirlwind and changing his diaper is like wrestling an alligator… he’s incessantly babbling, beating on that piano, throwing toss pillows, or climbing his new horse!! High Ho Silver!! Which leads me to my next bullet…
- He sings Bonanza! If I can ever figure out how to load a video I’ll show you. Frigging HI-LARIOUS!! He even says “YEE HAH!” haha! Ok, so it pretty much sounds like “da da da da da…” but, seriously, if you sing the song and tell him to sing it he does! I love it!
Ok, so that’s it for now. Hope your week is off to a great start!
I can’t believe Jack sings Bonanza! That is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time. He looks so big. Can you believe how fast they grow? I can’t wait to get a big slobbery kiss from him.
There is nothing better than a big slobbery baby kiss. Not quite sure Charlie realizes that is what he is doing when he comes at me all opened mouth, but I like to pretend they are his version of kisses.
How long did Jack take between the army crawl and up on all fours? Charlie’s been working the army crawl for weeks now and with the exception of a few times he looked like he was trying to get up on his knees, he’s just become really fast with the scoot. I can’t complain, we have yet to baby proof so the longer it takes the better for us!
You have got to figure out the video thing…I gotta see it in action! ha ha!

Morgan’s having some teething issues, too. Only seems to really give her a hard time at night. Of course, right?
Climbing?? Already!? Girly, you’re done….Morgan began climbing about a month ago and I can’t keep her safely on the floor for anything!!
:)
The video is priceless…but I loved the Hi Ho Silver pic too! Glad you figured out the video.
I swear teething is THE worst.
It’s so frustrating.
we are in the same boat except that Lulu is 23 months..
such a late bloomer, but at least she can tell us that she’s in pain.
I hope some teeth pop out soon for little Jack.
(and for you)
p.s did you catch 30 rock last week?
so hilarious- it’s one of my new favourite shows.
Parents of teething toddlers need a bit of comic relief from time to time.
Thank god for Liz Lemon & Jack Donaghy..
