Finally

Ok.  So we’re chugging along, getting the house in order… slowly but surely.  Although we’ve had a few hurdles over the past week or so.  Like the fact that when we moved in the half bath toilet didn’t work.  At all.  But I’m not really going to go into that because the leak in our great room ceiling is much more interesting.  And the fact that it’s completely unrelated to the 8 INCHESof rain we got the night before last is completely ridiculous.  Thank the dear Lord Baby Jesus in the manger that this house is on a hill because otherwise it would have been swept away with the way our luck has been going.  Enough about the measly rain… did you know that home warranties don’t cover pulling a toilet out.  So if water is pouring out of your downstairs ceiling right below the upstairs toilet, they intend to charge you to pull the toilet out in order to determine whether or not the toilet is contributing to the problem.  And it’s a $120 charge.  To pull it out.  And seriously any fool could do it.  In fact, that other toilet, the one not working downstairs, is not only going to be pulled out, but fixed, for $40.

Anyway, so yeah.  That’s not all.  I woke up yesterday to a complete infestation of ants.  I opened the pantry door and a highway of ants came marching out carrying all of the food with them.  It was awesome.  I just about went into orbit because, seriously, I wake up really hungry.  And to see ants on (or near) my food in the morning (or any time of day, really) makes me want to FREAK THE HELL OUT.

Ok.  So, it’s been a bit crazy around here.  We’re gearing up for preschool to start next week and therefore trying to get Jack into some sort of sense of routine and normalness (I know it’s not a word), and believe it or not we’re off again this weekend for our last beach weekend of the summer.  Which I’d totally cancel except for the fact that I really wouldn’t mind a little break because before you know it we’re going to have to little turkeys around here.  Which reminds me.  I still haven’t even thought about the nursery yet.  AGH.  Deep breath.

Anyway, I’ve finally got some pictures of the house.  And one of me too.

Our new home.

Oh My

Oh Lord.  I, excuse me, we are drowning in a sea of boxes.  Oh, wait.  I never told you.  We sold the old house.  And bought the new one.  Whew!  Talk about stress.  Ok, so we’re making some progress… slowly but surely.  I’ll have some pictures as soon as possible!!  Because seriously, you have got to see this grody kitchen before we overhaul it.

We’re back!  And seriously, this could be the longest post in the history of the universe, but honestly, I am so tired right now I can barely keep my eyes open.  It was a great trip.  Lots of time with family and friends.

We (Jack and I) made it into town right on time for my nephew, Noel’s third birthday party. Then we headed over to the east side of MI to visit my Aunt Amy and her family (my cousins, Andy, Chad, and Jeff) who are like brothers (we spent so much of our childhoods together) and visited my Dad, who Jack instantly loved because he let him vacuum his house while chasing his dog around.  And I’m totally serious.

Then Jack and I headed over to Grammy and Grampy Phil’s house at the beach… where Jack possessed some less than stellar behavior for most of the week, but let’s not talk about that.  My mom and I managed to make it to Grand Haven (our old stomping ground) for lunch and some shopping on Tuesday and for the Coast Guard Festival’s art fair, later in the week.  Jack and I had a playdate and lunch with Sarah and Tommy (Your Mom…) on Wednesday, which was a lot of fun.  The boys played really well together for the most part, until Jack got cranky and insisted that Tommy’s car was his car.  We had a great beach day on Thursday with Toot’s and his mom, my best friend Andrea.  Who came up from Chicago for our visit.  And we were also able to catch up with them (Hans too) on the weekend for some more beach time and a nice dinner out.

E arrived just in time on Saturday to save me from losing my mind and gave me a gigantic break and helped out a boatload with Jack.  After E arrived we moved down the beach about a mile from my mom’s house, to our rental.  It was a cute little cabin with lots of charm and plenty of dog hair and bugs… but we won’t go into that.  Let’s see, what else, oh yeah, my brother and his family (my sister in law Toni and their kids, Camryn and Noel) joined us at the cabin on Sunday and stayed most of the week.  It was a great vacation… and as sad as I was to see it end and to say goodbye, I was a little fired up to see our fantastically soft and glorious king sized bed last night.  That’s for damn sure.
