Issues

Ok, I have to say that I’m getting really irritated with BLOGGER today. AHHUGGGG… I’m having issues putting up some posts. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. More later, when this crap clears up.

OHMYGOSH!!!

Ok, ok, ok… I just took this picture. Not to state the obvious, but this is Jack and he is sleeping in his crib… and it is naptime. For those of you who have not read my “Satan Baby” post, Jack has strictly been napping in his swing for the past several weeks. After deciding it was time to solve this problem before we go to MI in a few weeks, I did some research online and found a messageboard (or whatever they are called) where several mothers were discussing the same sort of napping issues. To make a long story short I decided to try to start working on napping in other locations, besides the swing – and WHALLLA! He went to sleep in his crib like it was his favorite place to be. I mean look at the kid – he is spread eagle, all stretched out and drooling. I hope I didn’t jinx myself with this post… keep your fingers crossed.

3 Month Photos

I took these when we got home from the mall… I know, poor kid, cameras in his face all day long. You should see him now. Sleeping like a log.

3 Months

Today I took Jack to the mall for his three month pictures (his three month birthday was on Monday). As soon as we got there he started screaming and almost could not be consoled. Once he did calm down he wanted nothing to do with the lady taking his picture – let alone smiling at anyone. These are moments in life which you imagine to go so smoothly – much like the first Christmas tree experience. You imagine this magical moment where you find the perfect tree and bring it home and decorate it while listening to Christmas carols and drinking hot cocoa… no one ever tells you about the five hour car ride, the three hour tree hunt, the tree from hell that would not stay standing once in the tree stand (not to mention the chain saw used in the living room on the trunk – while I was in the shower); then two days later, 13 strands of lights and three trips to home depot, and the Christmas tree was still not yet decorated. Ok, so somehow I’ve gotten off track. But you get the idea. It wasn’t picture perfect… but after a couple of tries and a nap we finally got a picture worth buying. I’m still convinced his six weeks photos – which I did here at the house and spent about 30 minutes and $6.99 – were much better.

Catching Up

So it’s been a while since I’ve given you all the low down on what’s been going on, so I’ll try to make it brief and to the point.
We ditched the soy late last week. Not cutting it. I actually think he was having some sort of allergic reaction. Anyway, so we decided to start the zantac and it is going quite well. I’m not sure I gave an update on his weight from the last time he was weighed (when we went in for the acid reflux problem) – he’s 13 pounds!! I’m sure he is heavier now. He’s officially heavier than his girlfriend Jaden (who lives across the street) and she is two months older than him (I know – he loves the older women)!!
EZ and I drove up to Indianapolis for Teb’s memorial service and left Jack behind with Grandma and Grandpa Z. It was very tough for me – I cried – but we knew that he wouldn’t have been able to tolerate that long of a drive and he would have been more than we could handle. He was in good hands though… Grandma and Grandpa stuck to my rediculous schedule (which I typed out including every detail of how he normally spends his day). I know this because we probably called at least seven times each day. What can I say, it was my first time leaving him for more than 3 or 4 hours.
The memorial service was beautiful yet very sad. One very good thing came out of that terrible situation though. EZ and I were brought back together with some very good, very old friends who we have not spoken with in almost five years. I really feel like this situation really put things into perspective.

Teb

As most of you know, a good friend of EZ’s passed away last week. Tricia (a.k.a. TEB) had started a blog (www.tebspage.blogspot.com) to keep everyone in touch with what was new with their family, including their 8 month old, Sam. Shortly after starting her blog, she was diagnosed with stage IV metastastic melanoma. She documented her fight against the disease on her blog. Teb’s fight spread like wildfire and people all over the country became daily readers of her blog and offered their prayers and support.
Teb’s friends started a not-for-profit organization called Teb’s Troops (www.tebstroops.org). “Wanting to rally her “troops” during her war with cancer and desiring to make something positive come from the negative, teb asked her friends to help her design and sell a bracelet, the profits of which would go to organizations that support the treatment, prevention, and research of cancer, including melanoma. ” -This quote was taken from the Teb’s Troops website, I felt that they did a much better job explaining how Teb’s Troops was born.
I did not know Teb well, but she impacted my life in an amazing way. I remember the first time I met her. I was nervous to meet all of EZ’s friends at law school and she welcomed me with open arms. I remember thinking at Tricia and Michael’s wedding that she was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen. I would be lucky to have a fraction of the beauty, grace, strength, and kindness that she had. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she was an inspiration to everyone that met her. She was only 30 years old when she passed away.
Please say a prayer for Teb, her family, her husband Michael, and her son Sam.

Acid Reflux

I took Jack in to the doctor on Wednesday, after suspecting a case of acid reflux and sure enough that’s what it is… well, it’s what the doctor currently thinks it is. Poor little guy. Who ever heard of a baby with acid reflux?? I thought that only pregnant women and middle aged men got acid reflux. Apparently not. I guess it is pretty common. The doctor wanted to put him on zantac for babies but I thought I’d try whatever approach did not involve medication. So we’re trying soy formula for now. The doctor said most people prefer to put their babies on the zantac and I can see why… this crap stinks. It smells like freshly peeled potatoes. Poor kid. Yet another reason he’ll be sitting in the therapist’s office, as an adult, cussing his mother.
On a lighter note, he couldn’t be any cuter these days. He is so much fun now!! He laughs all of the time and smiles and coos. I’m so glad to have this time with him. He loves to look at himself in the mirror. When I show him himself in the mirror in the foyer he smiles at himself then buries his head in my chest like he is acting shy. It is too cute!!
